Things to know about v8.5 |
In anticipation of the new Flexi Family
8.5 release on October 1st, please click
here to find the new Flexi Family Upgrade
Price List. This new price list goes in
to effect on Monday October 1, 2007.
There are several changes that should
be noted:
-
The new product will
be released on DVD. The Programs will
be available to those who request CD’s
(for those who do not have DVD drives
in their computers) at an additional
$10 charge.
-
The new products will
be released WITHOUT hardware security
keys. We have incorporated a new “Softkey”
that ties the software license to the
client’s computer hard drive upon
installation, similar to what Microsoft
does with their operating systems. This
Softkey will greatly diminish the possibility
of piracy and help in solving lost/stolen
key issues. The installation of the
Softkey does disable the hardware key
permanently.

The user is required
to have an internet connection for installing
the new software and will need to connect
the computer and Flexi software to the
internet every 28 days to validate their
install. The Regional managers will
go into more detail on the inner workings
of this with you shortly.

The internet connection
will allow another feature of the new
8.5, “Auto-Update” to function.
No more not knowing an update is available,
not knowing a new driver is available,
not knowing a fix is available, etc.
When an update is available, an alert
will appear prompting you to take action
on the update.

The Softkey does have
one known issue that may cause some
headaches. It will not allow a “network”
use of FlexiSIGN-PRO, meaning the user
CANNOT install Production Manager on
one computer and the Design Portion
of PRO on another computer networked
in the shop. This may cause some headaches
to some users and we apologize for the
inconvenience up front. We will be correcting
this issue in a future update very soon.

For those customers
who wish to retain a hardware key, it
will be available to them for an extra
$150 charge.

Flexi 8.5 is VISTA compatible.
It is also compatible with Windows XP
OS and Windows 2003 Server OS.

The 8 to 8.5 upgrade
path is a CHARGEABLE upgrade. We have
worked on the Microsoft VISTA™
compatibility issue for over a year
and a new Color Engine has been installed
in the FlexiSIGN-PRO and FlexiPRINT&CUT
products. Both were a substantial investment
for SAi and our Resellers.

The old confusing upgrade
price matrix has been dialed down to
make it easier to determine the upgrade
price. The release of this price list
is the final opportunity for those clients
who still have Flexi 2 thru 5 licenses,
CASmate and Inspire licenses to upgrade
their software. After December 31, 2007
upgrade prices for those products will
be eliminated.
